Anemone blanda

An invaluable addition to a shady border – perfect for neglected corners, rooty ground beneath trees and shrubs, rock gardens and banks.Anemone blanda is one of the most economical bulbs available and a doddle to grow –  once they’re in they will look after themselves, colonising rapidly to create natural drifts of jewel-like daisies in pretty shades of pink, blue and white hovering above blankets of feathery foliage.They can be relied upon to enliven the early spring garden with a sprinkling of colour just when you need it the most, nicely filling the gaps between other perennials about to emerge. They can also be planted in shallow troughs to bring some early colour onto the patio. The flowers are much appreciated by pollinators as an early food source, making Anemone blanda a good choice for wildlife-friendly gardens too. In light, alkaline soils, Anemone blanda will also naturalise in grass, and when planted in swathes across a lawn it makes a stunning spring feature. Flowers March-April. Height 15cm.
