Phormium 'Platts Black'

Phormium 'Platts Black' is a very popular variety of the New Zealand Flax, it has Gothically dark brown-black foliage with a glossy finish to them. They will absolutely catch your eye no matter where they are planted. In the summer, red, tubular flowers appear which attract nectar seeking birds! It is perfect for making a focal point to a garden and is lovely planted up in a bed, border, or even patio containers. They also look great when offset with gravel as this really draws the eye to the contrasting, architectural plant. It will appreciate full sun and at times some shade, and in the winter will need protecting for cold, harsh winds. If planted in containers simply move the pots to a more sheltered and protected area. Height 1m (39?) and spread 1m (39?).
