Eryngium bourgatii 'Picos Amethyst'

A bold and architectural perennial with metallic-violet, thistle-like flower heads carried on strong blue to reddish stems, above low rosettes of deeply cut, marbled green foliage. In July and August, the ruff of silvery bracts deepens to an intense blue, crowned by a dome of tiny flowers that bees and butterflies adore. This compact yet sculptural perennial thrives even in poor, well-drained soil — an excellent pick for gravel gardens, borders or coastal spots where other plants might falter. Its architectural form also renders it perfect for dried arrangements or as a bold focal point for pollinator-friendly planting schemes.Ultimate height: 50cm to 60cm (20 to 24in).
