Compact form and attractive foliage colour - especially magnificent in autumn - combine to make Cotinus coggygria 'Flamissimo’ a choice specimen shrub for borders and containers.Unlike some other Cotinus varieties that have an ungainly habit, Cotinus coggygria 'Flamissimo’ is very well-branched, forming a compact and bushy shrub clothed in large, oval leaves. Through summer the foliage is green flushed with purple, offering a handsome backdrop to garden borders. In mid to late summer, clouds of fuzzy pink flowerheads appear on one year old wood, earning Cotinus the common name of ‘Smoke Bush’. But the most exceptional feature is left until autumn, when ‘Flamissimo’ bursts into flaming reds and oranges that light up the garden just as borders are beginning to fade.Cotinus coggygria 'Flamissimo’ makes an excellent border shrub and is even compact enough to be grown in a large container on the patio. Ultimate height: 1.5m to 2.5m (4.9ft - 8.2ft).
