Grow your own delicious Gooseberry Giggles Green with these easy-to-plant bushes! Supplied as 2x 9cm potted plants, simply plant in an open, sunny or semi-shaded spot with well-drained soil. Remember to enrich the soil with well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting, spacing the bushes 1.5m (5') apart at their original depth, indicated by a mark left on the stem. Remove any shoots or dormant buds from the base to prevent unwanted suckers.Water well for the first year until plants are fully established, especially during hot periods, and protect from birds with netting. Harvest some berries in May for cooking and freezing, and enjoy the rest fresh in June. Prune in winter, removing dead, damaged, or crossing stems and thinning the remaining ones to create an upright, open bush.
