Fritillaria raddeana

Fritillaria raddeana is a rarely seen variety, native to the rocky slopes of Iran, Turkmenistan, and Kashmir. This shorter cousin of the Crown Imperial produces elegant, nodding bell-shaped flowers in soft yellow, blushed with lime green, the colour deepening as they mature. The flowers appear in umbels of 5 or 6—sometimes more—crowned with a tuft of leafy bracts. A hardy, naturalising perennial, Fritillaria raddeana is perfect for adding unique spring beauty to borders and rockeries. Ultimate height: 30cm (12in) to 50cm (20in). Ultimate spread: 10cm (4in) to 20cm (8in).
