Product Description
Cosmos ‘Cupcakes and Saucers’ is a delightful blend of classic cosmos and Cosmos Cupcakes. Expect colourful blooms from summer through to autumn. Held on tall, slender stems, they move gracefully in the breeze, giving a soft, airy feel. These plants flourish in sunny locations and are ideal as cut flowers. For growing from seed, sow from March to May, 3mm (1/8 inch) deep in good quality seed compost. Lightly cover with vermiculite. Place the seed tray in a propagator at a temperature between 18-25°C (64-77°F) or seal in a polythene bag, keeping the soil damp but not wet. Light is needed for germination, which takes 7-15 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7cm (3 inches) pots and grow in cooler conditions until ready for planting outdoors. Once plants are well-established and frost risk has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions for 7-10 days. Transplant outdoors into any moist, well-drained soil in a sunny spot, spacing 45cm (18 inches) apart. Pinch out the growing tip of each stem at transplanting to encourage branching and more flowers. Please note: Images are for guidance only and show the expected results of mature plants; different growing conditions may affect results. Images may also vary due to seasonal changes (e.g., deciduous plants lose leaves during colder months).
