A resilient variety, it tolerates a range of conditions and soil types, making it equally suited for patio containers and summer or autumn border displays.Growing to a height and spread of up to 60cm, Penstemon Juicy Grape arrives as three Jumbo Plugs. Upon receipt, pot up the penstemon plants and nurture them in frost-free conditions until well-established. Pinch out growing tips early to encourage a bushier habit. Acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before planting in borders or containers.Plant in a sunny or semi-shaded location with fertile, well-drained soil. Penstemons can tolerate dry soils once established, but dislike heavy soils that are particularly cold and wet in winter. Improve heavy soils with plenty of coarse grit before planting. Feed and water regularly until established, then maintain as needed. Deadhead faded flowers to promote vigour and further blooms.
