Tulip clusiana 'Annika'

Tulip clusiana ‘Annika’ makes a novel departure from the usual candy-striped colours of other clusiana varieties. The blooms come in a soft salmon pink and ivory white, darkening as they age to fuchsia-pink. As they open, a dark purple blotch in the centre is revealed.Clusiana tulips may be small, but they are one of the prettiest of species tulips, making elegant displays early in the season, flowering in April or sometimes even March in a mild spring. They make a lovely arrangement packed closely into a container with each bulb producing three or four blooms. Exceptionally long-lived, it’s a strong perennial that naturalises beautifully in grass. Ultimate height: 30-35cm (12-14in).
