Inspired by one of sumo wrestling?s tallest and most formidable athletes, Akebono Tar, Tulip 'Akebono' is a striking Darwin hybrid known for its large, double blooms perched atop sturdy stems. This exceptional variety not only offers stunning beauty but also promises impressive longevity, with bulbs reliably reflowering each year when planted in well-drained soil. The name Akebono, meaning dawn in Japanese, is a perfect reflection of this tulip?s glowing colour palette. Its softly waved petals, a blend of primrose yellow with delicate pink flushes, are outlined by fine red edges.
