Prunus 'Shirotae'

In April and May the branches of this Ornamental Cherry are covered with cup shaped, snow white, semi-double flowers with a lovely fragrance. The blooms are borne in hanging clusters that make a delicate and elegant display. Pale green leaves cloak the branches in late spring, maturing to a darker green through the summer, before autumn sees them turn to brilliant orange and red. Prunus 'Shirotae' has a spreading habit with weeping branches during its early years, maturing to a more flattened, spreading crown. This a hardy, deciduous tree makes a showy centrepiece for a large lawn.
