Product Description

Prunus nipponica ‘Brilliant’, commonly known as Japanese Alpine Maple, is a fabulous specimen tree and a very hardy variety which will flourish in most locations. Its compact size and minimal maintenance requirements make it an excellent choice for smaller gardens, large containers, or as a striking focal point above a rockery. In spring, expect a beautiful burst of pink-tinged white blooms across its bare branches, preceding the emergence of unusual rust-coloured leaves. As summer arrives, the foliage transitions to a classic green, before offering another spectacular display in autumn, when the leaves transform into shades of red, orange, and yellow. Plant cherry trees in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, enriched with plenty of compost or well-rotted manure before planting. Choose a position in full sun for optimal growth. Water regularly until fully established. Ornamental cherries need little further attention; simply remove any diseased, damaged, or crossing shoots to maintain a healthy shape. Pruning is best carried out in midsummer to minimise the risk of ‘silver leaf’ infection. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant each spring, ensuring it doesn't mound against the stem.Position: Full Sun/Partial Shade.Height: Reaching up to 3m when fully grown.Spread: Extending up to 2m when fully grown.Supplied as 1 x Prunus nipponica ‘Brilliant’ plant in a 3.6 litre pot, accompanied by growing and care instructions. Images are intended as a guide to the expected results at maturity; differing growing conditions may affect results. The image serves as an illustration of the supply but may vary due to seasonal changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose their leaves during colder months).
