Salix udensis 'Golden Sunshine'

This Japanese Fantail Willow is a big shrub that looks great at the back of sunny borders. The handsome, vigorous willow grows into a sturdy, tall, deciduous shrub. Before the foliage develops in early April, tiny, pale silver-yellow catkins appear. In the spring, the lance-shaped leaves are chartreuse green, turning a brighter yellow in the autumn before falling. This species, Salix udensis Golden Sunshine, is a golden-red mutant discovered in Japan in 2005. Height: 4m (13'). Spread: 3m (9').
