Astelia 'Silver Shadow'

Astelia ?Silver Shadow? is a vigorous evergreen perennial with wonderful silver colouring, and makes a great choice for providing year-round colour, texture and structure. The clumps of large, arching, sword-like foliage it produces has a silver shimmer which is ideal for adding dramatic, textural accents amongst low-mounding plants where its colouring will contrast perfectly with red/purple tones. Female plants produce yellow-green blooms on long stalks in spring, which are followed by orange berries. Astelia ?Silver Shadow? will be equally happy planted with ferns in partial shade, or in a sun-baked Mediterranean scheme with drought tolerant plants. In milder parts of the UK, this half-hardy perennial will grow outdoors all year-round but will need protection in colder parts of the country and during severe winters.
