Lonicera periclymenum

Lonicera periclymenum is a wild honeysuckle native to the UK and is commonly seen scrambling through woodlands and hedges. Throughout the summer it bears an abundance of cream tubular blooms, blushed with pink on the outside, which slowly turn yellow-orange and produces a heavenly perfume. Lonicera periclymenum is adored by wildlife- its nectar-rich flowers attracting plenty of pollinating insects, such as bees, butterflies and moths. Dormice also use the nectar as a high-energy source. Once the flowers have faded they are followed by clusters of shiny red berries which birds such as bullfinches, thrushes and warblers adore. A vigorous, woody, deciduous climber that will swiftly scramble over walls and fences but isn't as invasive as Japanese honeysuckle. Ultimate height: 4?8 metres (13-26ft).
