Product Description
Bring a burst of golden colour to your garden this spring with this bareroot shrub! Perfect for creating a stunning spring border or as a focal point in patio containers, it showcases large, tulip-shaped flowers on a distinctive columnar stem. Blooming late in the season, from April through May, these beauties avoid the worst of the frosts.Naturally developing into a medium-sized tree, this magnolia makes an ideal centrepiece for a sunny or partially shaded garden, providing low-maintenance colour and structure throughout the year. Should space be a concern, it can be easily pruned to maintain your desired shape and size. Reaching a height of 4m (13ft) and a spread of 2.5m (8ft).For best results, plant in a sunny or semi-shaded spot, sheltered from harsh winds and late spring frosts. Magnolias thrive in rich, moist, well-drained soil that is slightly acidic to neutral. Before planting, enrich the soil with plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, mixing it in thoroughly. Shading the roots will help young magnolia plants establish more quickly. After planting, mulch with rotted bark chips, manure, or garden compost, being careful not to pile it up around the stem. When planting magnolia in a patio container, use a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3. Water regularly during the growing season until the plants are well-established. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted bark chips or garden compost around the base of the plant.Product Specifications: Position: Sun or Semi Shade. Height: up to 400cm (157in).
