Nelson drew inspiration for the design of this series of lamps from silk-covered Swedish pendants. Using great ingenuity in the work process, he developed the Bubble pendant lamp shades, which consist of a lightweight, rounded frame made of steel with a self-crosslinking plastic spray developed by the U.S. military applied to it.
