John Peel Sessions (1989-1990) CD

Cranes present the first in a planned series of archival releases with John Peel Sessions 19891990, collecting both of their legendary BBC sessions for the first time. Recorded shortly after the release of their debut SelfNonSelf, the two sessions capture the evolution of the band from the core sibling duo of Alison and Jim Shaw to the expanded lineup featuring Mark Francombe and Matt Copelater responsible for landmark albums on Dedicated. These early recordings showcase the bands signature mix of spectral vocals, jagged textures, and atmospheric minimalism that would define their sound. The release appears on their own Dadaphonic label and features original artwork by celebrated designer Chris Bigg, known for his work with 4AD and v23 Cocteau Twins, Pixies.
