Trends come and trends go but Nick Heyward is proof that great songwriting is timeless. In the UK, at least, the mid 03990s will be best remembered as the time of Britpop, a return to catchy guitardriven Pop tunes, that drew inspiration from the Beat scene 30 years earlier, and offered a more upbeat, optimistic alternative to the imported Grunge movement. To those familiar with Nick039s work, this was nothing new.After a string of hits with Haircut 100 039Favourite Shirt Boy Meets Girl039, Love Plus One, 039Fantastic Day039... and his own solo entries on the chart 039Whistle Down The Wind039, 039Take That Situation039, 039Blue Hat For A Blue Day039, the 03990s saw Nick signed to a new label, and releasing his fourth album From Monday To Sunday. Featuring the singles 039Kite039 and 039He Doesn039t Love You Like I Do039, it pulled off the difficult trick of sounding both fresh and a little nostalgic at the same time. It was followed two years later by the equally wellcrafted Tangled, which featured former Ride future Oasis bass player Andy Bell among the supporting cast. In 03997, Nick was embraced by the embodiment of the era039s music scene Creation Records at one time or other, home to both the aforementioned bands, where he released the album The Apple Bed. Curated by Nick, 19931998 The Epic amp Creation Years is a 76 track 4CD box set that brings together those three brilliant albums, alongside all the relevant Bsides and bonus tracks, demos, live recordings, and previously unreleased songs. Presented in Deluxe 7 packaging, it includes a 24page booklet, featuring a brandnew interview with Nick from author and journalist Daryl Easlea.As companion pieces to the 4CD box set 19931998 The Epic amp Creation Years, on 31 October 2025 Demon Records will be making three highly collectable studio albums by Nick Heyward available as coloured vinyl LPs.
