Robert Kane039s professional music career began with the Showbiz Kids, a New Wave group who became one of the busiest and most popular in North East England.In the nineties Robert turned to RampB with The Alligators and gigged constantly for the next five years.One of The Alligators was guitarist Hilton Valentine from the Animals so drummer John Steel was recruited along with Robert and they spent the next five years touring the world as The Animals.Theyd crossed paths with lots of bands at various festivals one of which was Dr Feelgood, and as they were in need of a new singer, Robert was approached. He accepted the offer and in 1999 became a member and at time of writing, is well on the way to 3000 gigs with the band.And now, after a career spanning over 50 years, Robert is releasing an album under his own name for the first time.Asked Why now he replied I was sitting at home messing about on guitar one day and started playing a song Id written years before. Thinking well thats not a bad song I then realised Id never played it to anyone So I had a little moment there and I thought Well, does a song actually exist if no ones ever heard it Thats when I knew that some of these songs Id had lying around for years needed to be recorded.He drew up a list of songs and knew the approach he wanted keep everything as simple and stripped back as possible no harmonies, no backing vocals, no unnecessary doodling.In the studio he would play the song to the musicians, run through it once with them and then record it and try to capture it first take. This method worked so well that everything on the album is first or second take.Robert Kane continues to tour constantly with Dr Feelgood across UK, Europe and USA.
