In 2014, Frampton was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis IBM, a rare, degenerative muscle disease. He was ready to retire after a farewell tour in 2019. Carry The Light is cowritten with his son Julian. The album is coproduced by Frampton, Julian Frampton and Chuck Ainlay.
