Produced by Nick Tauber, with arrangements by the band and Toyah, the album features a lineup that saw Toyah Willcox and Joel Bogen joined by Nigel Glockler, Phil Spalding and Adrian Lee.lsquoAnthemrsquo was a big commercial success, reaching number two in the UK Top 40 album chart in May 1981. It spent 46 weeks on the album chart and was awarded a Gold album sales certification. The album followed two Top Ten hit singles, lsquoItrsquos A Mysteryrsquo 4 and lsquoI Want To Be Freersquo 8 both of which feature on lsquoAnthemrsquo entering the public mainstream through radio playand appearances on BBCrsquos legendary weekly music TV programme Top Of The Pops. lsquoItrsquos A Mysteryrsquo and lsquoI Want To Be Freersquo have become iconic and wellloved hit singles of the 1980s.The album also includes the anthemic lsquoWe Arersquo and the atmospheric lsquoJungles Of Jupiterrsquo, both classics that have remained in Toyahrsquos live set to this today. Toyah will embark on a 40th Anniversary Anthem tour beginning September 2022 to coincide with this special reissue.
