Watch Kelton Octogone

Welcome to the year 2049:Octogone, our retro-futuristic watch. Its steel version is aimed at the more "classic" among us.Here, we've optimized the immense potential of this Kelton model from the late 70s. Firstly, by redesigning its case, now equipped with a Seagull 1632 automatic day/date movement. Its Superluminova-treated hands (hours and minutes) have become luminescent, and last but not least, we've used a sapphire crystal, so this little automatic bombshell can now withstand pressures of up to 10 ATM.Since the question of the future has haunted cinema,Octogone has been the shape of just about every object to come. Hence the wave of octagonal models that appeared at the end of the Space Age decades (70's), from a large number of watchmakers including Kelton, of which there are hundreds.Where does this octagonal shape come from?
