THE HUAYHUASH TREK: The 9-day Huayhuash Trek is a breathtaking journey through glacial valleys, turquoise lakes, and jagged 6,000- metre peaks in the Peruvian Andes. Starting near Huaraz, this compact circuit balances challenge and accessibility, offering an unforgettable mountain experience. Covering about 170 km and crossing seven high passes between 4,300 and 5,000 metres, the trek demands fitness, surefootedness, and a willingness to leave your comfort zone. Along the way, you’ll camp beside lakes like Carhuacocha and Jahuacocha, surrounded by wildlife including condors, vicuñas, and dozens of other species. Supported by local guides, cooks, and pack animals, trekkers carry only a light daypack and can fully immerse themselves in the rhythm of the Andes.
