This bit is also very well suited to horses that play with their tongues, trying to get their tongue over the bit, as the port effectively prevents this. This mouthpiece is thus eminently suited to horses that do not tolerate traditionally shaped bits due to the pressure on the tongue and react by head-shaking or similar. The Tandem is to be used with one set of reins. It causes pressure on the horse‘s nose, the branches of the lower jaw and poll. Increasing the pull, a slight lifting effect of the bit is achieved.
