According to the Department for Transport 68.3% of accidents are caused by driver error with over 50% of accidents being caused by the driver/rider failing to look properly or being careless, reckless or in a hurry. No one ever thinks a road collision will be their accident — until it is. The Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) requires employers to ensure the safety of their employees when driving for work whilst the Road Traffic Act (1988) covers general safety when driving on the road. This online Driver Awareness course helps drivers of any vehicle stay safe and reduce the likelihood of accidents. It’s a helpful reminder of what you’ll have learnt for your Driving Test, but it also includes useful tips and information that may be completely new to you. This driver awareness online course helps you identify potential problems before you drive a vehicle and gives you some top tips for staying safe whilst on the road. You’ll be given easy and practical tools to check the driver is safe (IAMSAFE checklist) and the vehicle is safe (PLiERS checklist) before driving away. You’ll also be given some top tips on staying alert to potential hazards when driving. Who is this Driver Awareness course for? Our driver awareness online course is suitable for anyone who might drive for work on a frequent or non-frequent basis. It is perfect for organisations or employers looking to take reasonable steps to safeguard the heald and safety of their employees as they are required to do so by law. This includes delivery drivers, taxi drivers, mini-bus drivers, van and small truck drivers, company car drivers, site vehicle drivers, community healthcare staff, travelling sales staff and those commuting between work sites during work hours. Testing and certification At the end of the course, there is a test consisting of 15 multiple choice questions, for which a pass mark of at least 80% is required. Learners can have as many attempts at the test as is needed at no extra cost. After achieving a pass mark of 80%, learners will be able to download and print a RoSPA assured and CPD approved Virtual College certificate for their records. Course duration The driver awareness training course should take 45 minutes to complete, but this depends on how quickly you absorb the training material. Progress is recorded throughout by the Virtual College Learning Management System, meaning you can take as long as you need to work your way through the course.
