Product Description

If you're looking for greater braking performance and increased stopping power, then look no further than the Brembo Xtra Brake Discs. These cross-drilled and dimpled discs offer extra cooling, heat fade resistance, and increased wet weather performance.Cross-drilled for extra stopping powerEnables more efficient degassingReduces temperatures of the braking systemBrembo Xtra brake discs are cross drilled (or in some cases, dimpled) for enhanced performance. Holes in the surface of the brake disc offer several advantages. A drilled surface offers a better surface for the brake pad to bite down on. The edges of the holes provide additional friction when the brake pedal is pressed. When driving in wet conditions, the holes in the surface help clear water. This means there isn't that slight delay in initial braking whilst the pad sweeps the water from the surface of the disc. The holes in surface of the disc help heat and hot gases escape into the vented centre of the disc, keeping temperatures lower. This means Brembo Xtra brake discs perform better under harsh repeated braking when the brake system is hot.At higher temperatures, the pad compound can start to combust into hot gas which can build up as a layer between the pad and disc surface. This layer of hot gas prevents the pad properly acting on the disc. The holes in the surface of this disc help this gas to escape and allow the brakes to continue functioning optimally.Lastly the drilled design also acts as a scraper for the brake pad; cleaning away any hazardous materials or deposits on the pads which could otherwise impede the braking performance. For certain applications Brembo have opted for a "dimpled" face where the holes are not drilled all the way through. This has been done to help the disc resist cracking.
