Mercury Spill Kit

The kit provides comprehensive tools and protective equipment necessary for handling mercury spills. Kit DOES NOT INCLUDE mercury vapours these are necessary however for dealing with these spills. A mercury vapor protection respirator as recommended by Health & Safety Commission should be used during spill clean up and should be available in areas where mercury containing apparatus is used. All used materials and collected mercury go back into collection unit which is sealed with the provided tape. The entire sealed unit should be disposed of according to Local Authority Regulations or hospital procedures for hazardous waste disposal. Kit contains 2 x collection units each containing a mercury aspirator (syringe) scrapers amalgamating powder collection sponges protective apron protective nitrile gloves mercury spill warning card dampening spray warning tape and instructions for use. Spill kit suitable for the containment clean-up and disposal of a small mercury liquid spills Please note this kit contains everything that will be needed with the exception of a mercury vapour protection respirator. The Health & Safety Commission indicate in their publication Safe Disposal of Clinical Waste (1999) that a mercury vapour mask is to be used when dealing with spills and should be available in areas where mercury containing apparatus is used Everything that is used goes back into the collection unit which is then sealed with the tape and the whole unit then goes to disposal according to Local Authority Regulations or hospital procedure
