The Masham Surgery

GP surgeries tend to get a bad press but credit where credit is due here. Masham surgery are brilliant with my elderly relative. Nothing is too much trouble, staff are always helpful and I've never struggled to get her an urgent appointment.

This surgery is useless. They’re supposed to be there to help people, but it feels like it’s only ever on their terms. Forcing patients to order prescriptions online or by posting a note is done for their convenience, not the patients’.

Together with I know the majority of local people, we are very grateful to have such an excellent surgery. I note the one or two negative reviews; problems, mainly due to staffing, do occur as it seems everywhere at the moment. But if they give priority of doctor's time to urgent patients rather than to renewing a prescription - hardly a cause for a one-star review is it. In my 6 years experience of this practice if a matter is urgent, they will arrange for you to see or speak to a doctor that same day. Even non-urgent matters can usually be addressed that day too if you ring early. An excellent service, by lovely people. Thanks.

Absolutely horrendous treatment by the receptionist here repeatedly for months. One in particular who is incredibly rude and unprofessional breaking confidentiality by mocking a patient loudly with others in the waiting room. Also after complaining twice via the email address to practice manager “Claire Woolley” and having being ignored twice I am now taking it up with PALS because clearly it’s too difficult for her to respond to emails and actually manage the practice. Had a good experience with the doctors but the stress of going through this receptionist I’m afraid isn’t worth the best of doctors. If you’re looking for a professional service with a practice who cares about their patients I’d steer clear.

Transferred here after a terrible experience at my previous surgery. Right from the start they have been brilliant - always helpful and friendly reception and administrative staff, and on the occasions I’ve needed to see a doctor or physio they’ve been great and easy to make appointments with.
