So dated. Property was probably converted in the 1970s and has only been maintained since then. I felt it was grubby from years of use...it is clean. Woodchip wallpaper, ancient carpets. Location is good...7 minutes walk from centre of Masham. Kitcen has cooker and microwave, no dishwasher or washing machine. Suite 9 is over 2 floors...twin beds up narrow stairs. Double bedroom next to kitchen. Bathroom has bath and good electric shower over. When you arrive you need to turn on immersion heater for hot water. There are stone steps outside and a central staircase as well. There are some ground floor apartments.
We had a great stay here for a weekend away. Check in was smooth and easy. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Beds were cozy & and the place was kept warm. The hot water was difficult to use, it had to be turned on 1.5 hrs before use and when we did this it still would not go hot, we had cold showers but I guess this could have been sorted had we contacted someone (we didn’t bother as we needed to head out). Other than that the place is a close walk to the town and a close drive to some fab activities. The area is quiet and peaceful.
lovely area, building & garden. our apartment was pretty basic and could do with a bit of an upgrade.
I'm never ever been in such historical places like in this mansion. From the first seconds, I became excited. The memories of being a child become a reality. The spiritual atmosphere around. The half mile away is a river with nice streams. And there is a small rainbows jumping of water trying to catch a flies. I would like to live there but can not afford it at that time. Highly recommend.
First stayed here in 1988! We then stayed again in 2011 and the room was looking tired. Since then though the rooms have been updated with all new carpeting and new bathrooms. The bathroom in ours was excellent, with piping hot water and a modern electric shower. The rooms have electric heaters. The apartments are not luxurious, but then the price is reasonable - so if you want some overpriced experience then look elsewhere. If you want an excellent base for exploring the lovely area, then Bellfields is ideal. Rita (the owner) keeps the place well looked after, and the apartments were clean. One thing that may catch you out though is that you need to bring your own towels.
