We didn't stay overnight but 8 of us, (let down by our original lunch venue) had lunch here. Short notice for the pub, but we're made hugely welcome, a wide choice of menu, fantastic food, excellent service and a warm, cosy restaurant. None of us could fault it in any way - superb! We will be back. Highly recommend this pub for a Sunday lunch. Thanks Sharon.

My wife and I came here recently and saw it was busy but asked for a table if they could accommodate us. They said it was fine and gave us a table, in hindsight they should have said no because it became apparent the kitchen was struggling. They would have saved us the disappointment too. We ordered the camembert with some olives for a quick lunch. And two cokes. The drinks arrived promptly and I can only guess their soda mixer on their syrup gun is acting up as the cokes were very weak (am giving the benefit of the doubt they were not adjusted in bad faith). Then the food came, the olives were lovely. The camembert was warm, not hot, the garlic in it was raw, the sourdough toast was stale and the garlic bread was solid to the point of the photo (I pushed down with my finger and it fractured into hardened pieces). Honestly it had the hallmarks of "need to use this up just send it out to clear the cheque from the pass". The olives and the fact the busy staff were friendly is the only reason this is not a 1 star review. Incredibly disappointing. To the management; it is better to say "sorry we are really busy and need to slow service for the kitchen" to prospective diners than to shoe horn another table in and serve appalling food. Edit; for some typos.

After I made an error with our booking, I was relieved when the issue was resolved immediately and without any fuss (quite late at night). The Hotel itself is beautiful inside and out, and the staff are wonderful; friendly, professional and efficient. Our room was clean and charming with exposed timber beams, a modern, spacious bathroom and importantly for us, it was toasty warm. Our evening meal was taken in the dining room and was both good value and delicious. Again, the service was wonderful. Breakfast was exceptionally good value and set us up for the next day of travel. I would definitely stay again and would highly recommend this pub for anyone wanting charm, service, comfort and good food.

We had an amazing time at the King's Head. The staff were friendly efficient and professional. We arrived with a dog and nothing was to much trouble. The rooms were clean and given they were pet friendly we had no issues what so ever. Tracey on reception was very personable and professional and we loved all the staff members. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and it was delicious. Lily is a real trooper she didn't stop... Breakfast was the star of the whole experience even our boxer dog had a few sausages. Again nothing was to much trouble. My only upset was our visit was to short and we will be sure to book again for next year but this time a little longer.

We booked into this hotel last minute at 10.45pm due to a last minute change in travel. The gentleman that was on shift was very welcoming and accommodating. We were showed to our room and it was big enough for a family of 4, clean and modern. We had a comfortable nights sleep. We went for breakfast which the service was spot on. Gaye served us and she was nothing but friendly and welcoming. Definitely a good little last minute find. We will be staying again.
