This place is very dated. It lacks a focus on recovery. The place itself is in immediate need of paint, new furniture and a focus on its primary purpose 'rehabilitation. The staff reside in an office where they have sights of the "numerous" cameras. I am being polite when I say, their is a lack of engagement from staff. Having spent 5 days here on a few occasions, during my ROTL's. I see no focus on recovery, no focus on rehabilitation, no engagement from staff. It is only a matter of time before yet another "preventable death" occurs. Recovery is everyday, not once a week, fortnight or month to ease the topdown pressures or tick a box. I truly believe this AP is not fit for purpose. Even the words "approved premises" are laughable. Approved for what ? For people to relapse, be recalled, actively use, sleep, not engage, play computer games..... I'm sure the tax payer would like to believe that the lads here are being schooled on rehabilitation and recovery. Not just sleeping the day away, taking drugs, playing games and looking to slip back onto the bus back to prison where the cycle starts all over again. But this is the reality. Wake up and make the changes please. Focus on recovery and rehabilitation, and please don't insult my intelligence with that old speech.. we can't get them to engage if they dont want too. That's your job, to provide a service, not sit in an office and wait for that service to appear.... being Pro active is a choice, and so is Complacency. I know which one is active here. Needless to say, but I will anyway. If your looking for support with change, you won't find it here.
