I Lost My Cat Mango – Heartbroken by the Lack of Compassion and Financial Pressure Two weeks ago, I lost my beloved cat Mango, and I am still heartbroken. I’m sharing my experience to help other pet owners be aware of how this clinic operates. A few months ago, Mango began having urinary issues — frequent urination, discomfort, and restlessness. I took him to this clinic on a weekend and was charged nearly £400, just because it was out of hours. After some basic checks, they told me the issue was due to stress caused by another male cat around our home. Mango got better after a few days without much treatment. In the months after, Mango had recurring symptoms several times. But based on the initial diagnosis and the high cost of care, I truly believed the problem wasn’t serious and that it would resolve itself, as it had before. Unfortunately, two weeks ago, the symptoms came back more severely. I delayed taking him to the vet again, fearing another massive bill for what I assumed would be the same “stress-related” issue. But as his condition worsened, I rushed him to the clinic over the weekend. They told me to expect about £500 just for basic examination and treatment. But once they assessed him, they discovered a serious urinary blockage. His bladder had filled, toxins had entered his bloodstream, and he was in critical condition. The first thing they suggested to me was euthanasia — no real compassion, no urgency to try saving him unless I immediately paid £2,000 upfront. I loved Mango deeply and wanted to fight for him, so I paid it. They said there was a 60% chance he’d survive and that this would cover 2–3 days of treatment. But at 1am, they called to say Mango was now in a coma. He was non-responsive except for slight pupil reaction. Again, they offered euthanasia. When I pleaded for more time, more effort — they demanded another £2,000 just to continue monitoring him overnight. I had no other choice but to let Mango go peacefully. I couldn’t bear the emotional or financial pressure anymore. What hurts most is knowing that maybe if I had trusted my instincts less and brought him in sooner, or if they had diagnosed him more carefully months ago, this could’ve been prevented. I understand veterinary care is expensive. But what I experienced felt cold, profit-driven, and deeply lacking in empathy. This clinic didn’t just fail Mango — they failed us both. Please, to anyone who truly loves their pets: think carefully before choosing this clinic. If your pet’s life hangs in the balance, you should not be forced to choose between bankruptcy and mercy killing.

Absolutely brilliant service from start to finish. The ladies and gents who seen to my dog scamp are truly worth their weight in gold. We even received scamps ashes in a lovely box with a certified stamp of authenticity. Thank you all so so much ❤️

I’ve been with this vet practice for a couple of years now and they’ve always been excellent. I can get an appointment quickly whenever I need it and they always know who I am when I go in. Nothing is ever too much bother for them and they are very thorough in their care for my dogs. The receptionists are a real credit to the practice. Always calm and patient and always welcome you in with a smile. I’d certainly recommend Bridge Vets to anyone. I’ve been in for emergency surgery (my puppy literally cut through all the tendons on her leg by running over something sharp on a walk) and they were excellent. Saw us instantly and were fantastic with her. All credit to the fantastically skilled vet who’s surgery was done with such precision that my pup has made a full recovery (physio agreed it must have been a very well completed operation) Both my dogs have been neutered/spayed. Again, excellent care. My Golden Retriever has had a few surgeries to remove lumps and I always feel they have a good consistent approach to him. Vet Claire has been particularly good in this regard. Receptionist Trish in particular has been the highlight of my trips! She knows exactly who I am and can even tell my voice over the phone. She’s always positive and friendly and has a great sense of humour.
