EDIT: After a few days everything got sorted and we went again and got free drinks as an apology. Would actually recommend the quiz night on Wednesday nights. Went out with my friend we are both 26 got served our first ALCOHOLIC drink after having our IDs checked and everything checked out then came to buying the 2nd drink. Had our IDs checked once again and this time got accused of using fakes. 1. I'm not smart enough to know where to get fake id and 2. Why would I come to a pub on my doorstep with a fake id? Absolutely appalled at the accusation. So anyone under the age of the 30 with ID be prepared to get accused of using fake!!
Very traditional pub, pool, good beer and familiar atmosphere. Right place for those looking for peace and rest at the entrance of the Peak District.
4/8/24 i stayed last night the staff were so friendly nice to talk to and the people who were in for a pint and a game of pool were great all together a nice atmosphere .the room was all i needed very clean and comfortable and very quiet when i went to sleep ,very good value for money i would definitely stay again .thank you so much 10/10. i did not have food .
I think I found the nicest pub in the UK. (Don't tell anyone so as not to spoil it. It does have a problem with evaporation though; no way I drank that pint that quick !!
Zeros stars! No food even on Sunday! No dogs allowed in most of the pub! Due to them not being on their rather grubby carpet! As no seats anywhere else we had to leave. The place had 8 people in and were not accommodating! There were 13 of us on holiday there so they lost a good but of business! Not that I think they’d care as website is shambles. Don’t think this place will last. Avoid and go to The Huntsman.
