About The Ramblers' Rest
Description
TEAROOM
The original Ramblers’ Rest licensed tea room is housed in a former farm cottage that has been owned by the Nesom family who have farmed in Millington for three generations.
Renowned for its charming, cosy ambience and freshly cooked, homely food using family recipes and seasonal, local food, the recently refurbished and extended Ramblers’ Rest at Millington offers guests a spacious area in which to enjoy the delights that have made it famous throughout Yorkshire and beyond.
Whether you’re a walker looking for a refreshing cup of tea and a home-made cake, a cyclist in need of a hearty and nourishing snack or a tourist wanting to warm up in front of a roaring fire and experience a traditional Yorkshire tea room, the Ramblers’ Rest has something for everyone.
The tea room’s extensive menu includes a range of delicious home-made cakes and pastries, made to order sandwiches, Welsh Rarebit, scrambled eggs, home-made soups, salads and cream teas.
RESTAURANT
Over the last 16 years, the Ramblers’ Rest has gained an enviable reputation for the quality of its home cooked food, its charming ambience and the unique licensed private dining experience and we’re pleased to say that none of this will change with our comfortable new surroundings.
We still offer a private dining experience for parties of 10 or more but now with our extended restaurant area we can accommodate up to 26 around one large dining table.
The new restaurant was formerly the farm’s granary that has been lovingly and sympathetically restored and retains many original features. The restaurant serves traditional meals from family recipes with Angela’s trademark twist and uses locally sourced produce, including meat reared on the farm and butchered by Angela’s husband, Jeremy.
Dishes include Fresh Salmon and Parsley Fishcakes with a Lime and Ginger Breadcrumb coating, served on Mixed Leaves drizzled with homemade Horseradish Cream, Homemade Chicken Liver and Local Pheasant Pate served with Sweet Apple Chutney and Toasted Bloomer Bread, and Crispy Bacon and Nut crusted Sea Bass Fillets served with a Rustic Winter Ratatouille.
ACCOMODATION
The farm’s old granary has been lovingly and sympathetically restored to create the Ramblers’ Rest luxury guest accommodation. Retaining all of the charm of original features including solid oak beams, the accommodation offers four very generously sized double bedded rooms, including family rooms and a ground floor room for elderly or less mobile visitors, that is unique throughout East Yorkshire villages.
The guest accommodation annexe has its own access and all rooms have ensuite showers with sensor lighting and complimentary toiletries, phone, television, internet access and tea and coffee making facilities.
