We visited recently and while the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, my experience with the food was disappointing. I ordered the butter chicken, specifically because it’s usually a mild, creamy dish but not too sweet. What arrived initially was yellow, very sweet and coconut-based, tasting much more like a korma. When I queried this, I was told it was a “mild” butter chicken and not the Asian style. The dish was then taken away and replaced with what was described as “Asian style” butter chicken. While this version had a tomato base, it was extremely spicy — far hotter than expected — and not creamy at all. I don’t eat hot curries, which is why I chose butter chicken in the first place, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to eat it. I felt uncomfortable raising the issue again, so I just left it, but it did spoil the meal for me. I think clearer explanations of spice levels and dish styles on the menu would really help manage expectations.

Came on NYE. Khalid served us, and gave us the best experience. Food was absolutely amazing, and Khalid went above and beyond for us making sure we were very well looked after. We will 100% be coming more often!

Spent our Xmas dinner here, for a twist on the traditional festive dinner. The food was very good, with one of the chutneys in particular being a really amazing take on what most restaurants usually call Lime & Chilli pickle. Curry came in a bucket which was amusing and nicely presented! The set menu for Xmas was a little limited and was also £50 per head which seamed a little pricey, although I appreciate Western Hindus likely celebrate Christmas too so additional costs on xmas are to be expected. I’d recommend Velvet Lounge to anyone seeking rich flavours and good quality food

Came here quite late after work with a friend and then managed to fit us in and it was one of the best curries I’ve ever had, absolutely amazing. I had the chicken tikka keema balti and it blew me away with the flavour. 10/10
