Can't believe I'm writing a positive review for a property solicitor. I've never had a great experience in the past, but these were excellent. We dealt with Deborah, and she was really great with me and my son. She explained everything well and helped us through the entire process to make it easy. Top notch!

Updated to respond— how convenient for you. Red flags from day one but we tried our best to persevere. Please read the negative reviews because that’s where you’ll see the real pic. Utterly incompetent firm. Waste your time and money. Our file was addressed to the wrong person and sent to the wrong address. Took the firm a while to rectify this and the file handler was so lazy she asked us to literally cross out and replace the incorrect name and address on every page of the very long form. Instead of issuing a new one to the right individual at the right address. She then took weeks to request ID and all the rest of it and still didn’t open the file correctly as every time we called for an update we were sent from pillar to post. She also took ages to issue a contract bundle and we constantly had to chase for updates. Given Oakwood charge a lot more than other firms they should provide a better service. They struggled to do the bare minimum. Every sentence reiterated how busy they all were. Yes you took on the work, deal with it. Whilst this was all carrying on we were seeking advice about a property we wanted to acquire from a family member and specifically asked if a sale or property transfer would be the best option. We were told property transfer and that a director would deal with this as it’s complex. The director in question was patronising, intimidating and somewhat annoyed that it was a property transfer after advising so herself. Then made it out as if we were trying to cut corners and spoke to us In patronising tone. She forgot the bit where she was the legal expert. She was also constantly out of office and if she answered our call she would promptly state that she is busy and cut the call, every call would mention her being out of the office for the next few days. The director stated that they are not taking on new clients but the receptionist said that they absolutely are taking on new clients. These are just a few examples of the crap we have been dealing with from a firm that apparently prides itself on the bespoke service they offer. Non existent service more like. The cherry on the cake though is their inability to apologise for what they put us through. Disappointed is an understatement. What a waste of time! Steer clear!

The response from Oakwood is in line with our experience with them to be very honest. Sharing an honest review is now being labelled as abuse. Glad we are reporting this experience to relevant authorities. “however we must stress that we will not tolerate any further abuse towards any of our team.” Further abuse? This firm is a joke. “Further clarity” how about an apology for poor legal advice and breaching GDPR. Would rate it 0 stars if I could. Extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. Unhelpful directors and consistently unavailable Solicitors. Have a sale that’s dragged and dragged and then a property transfer that we were poorly advised on and eventually told it should be a sale despite that being the FIRST question we asked. Issues with consent and GDPR. Mixed messages constantly. Zero apologies for distress caused. The negative reviews are spot on! Avoid! Avoid! Staff are constantly out of office and clearly don’t have capacity to take on customers so drag them along and cause avoidable delayed instead. If you inform them you’re aware of SRA guidelines and will raise a complaint they penalise you. The people investigating your complaint and also listed within the complaint so lots of conflict of interest. Couldn’t make this up!
