Great place to take your littles, loads of space & toys to play with from newborns in the baby sensory room up to big toddlers. The outdoor play area is great too. The food is pretty decent & the staff are lovely. It's great that there's no time limit to the cafe & play like there is at some play centres. I haven't tried any of the classes but heard they're good. My 2 toddlers love it here. I like that I can sit & have a drink or food & watch them play & chat with a friend or get involved in the play area. Great meet up place for a play date with other mums. Lots of free parking.
First visit- 11am weekday in summer hols. £3 entry (I think per child) to enter cafe and indoor & outdoor play areas which was really good value. There are also classes to book here (moo music), and other sessions like a sensory room. Whilst the class was running, it was very busy and noisy, with most of the indoor play area taken up by the class. After this it was pretty empty. Very reasonable food and drink prices. Falafel and hummus panini was great. Took a while for hot food and drinks to come. Overall seems really good value compared to soft play, great for babies and younger toddlers, and nice for adults to catch up and grab a drink. Looks like their website is under construction currently and you need to use social media e.g. Facebook for timetables. I think it could be clearer online what is actually here, hence the long review.
We love the Calf Shed for both the Moo Music classes and for the free play sessions. We attend a weekly music class which is mixed ages, and my 1 and 3 year olds love it. There is a different theme each week using different props and songs so there is lots of keep them entertained. Caroline is great at involving all the children. We've come in the afternoon for free play sessions too. These have often saved me from a boring afternoon at home, especially in bad weather, providing a nice coffee on the tables surrounding the play area and some good chats with other mums there. I feel that they're good value too. The food has been good, my daughters really liked the hummus plate and weaning plate which included a homemade sweetcorn and cheese scone. We're very happy that the Calf Shed's new venue is close to our house as we go so much more now!
We love our Monday baby classes at The Calf Shed and have returned for 3 terms! Caroline always makes the classes so fun, my daughter really enjoys herself. All staff are very friendly and helpful, we always stay after the class to enjoy a sweet treat and a coffee. A great venue for little ones.
It's such a lovely place! You don't feel pressured to be in and out by a certain time. It is so spacious and safe for the babies. Beautiful sensory and play room for younger babies! It's such a beautiful place. I will definitely be attending again. In the bathroom they have spare nappies which is so helpful for the mamas who have run out. I cant fault it x
