Heapfield Cottage is a situated on the owner’s working farm in the village of Nafferton, just 2 miles from the thriving market town of Driffield, known as the ’Capital of the Wolds’. As well as two  markets there’s an award winning monthly farmer’s market.

Peaceful and away from the road, both the cottage and camping site ensures you are not disturbed by traffic and light pollution.  We are very proud of our lovely clear skies.  We have some wonderful sunsets and fantastic views of the night sky.

The Driffield Showground hosts many exciting and interesting events throughout the year, such as the Steam Fair in August, the new Country Fair and also holds the largest one day agricultural show where local farmer’s, as well as those from across the UK, compete with their cattle. It’s a great day out for all. The opening of the Driffield Canal in the 19th century brought people flocking to the town. With lovely walks along the canal banks or visit the Riverhead with its restored town lock.

The Wolds is renowned for its miles of rolling fields and countryside made famous by the artist David Hockney, who found inspiration for his paintings here. The coast is only 10 miles away and the traditional seaside resort of Bridlington is very popular. With its award winning beaches and traditional working harbour where you can sit and watch the hustle and bustle of the fishermen bringing in their catch.

Further along the coast there’s the resorts of Flamborough Head, Filey and Scarborough. Visit the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs and see thousands of puffins in their natural habitat.

Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and there are three within a very short drive. Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall and Sewerby Hall with its beautiful gardens and walk down into Bridlington. In less than an hour you can be parked right in the centre of York. A majestic, medieval city very popular with tourists from across the world. Heapfield Cottage is a perfect base for the coast, moors and the Wolds.
