The Experience: I arrived to watch the F1 season finale with some friends who had arrived a few minutes prior. They had already ordered a round of drinks (5/6 beers for the table) when a member of staff (presumably the manager) approached. She didn't feel the need to speak to us, but placed a notice that patrons watching the tv need to buy a drink in front of me. That's rude as heck in my books. Use your words. it's worth mentioning that by this point, she had already offered round a food menu a minute prior, so was clearly capable of conversing. Furthermore, the exciting finale for this season of F1 was played without audio, with this /wonderful/ venue opting to play LOUD christmas music. At 1pm on a Sunday. I then went to the bathroom to discover neither stalls in the Men's would latch properly and were both well coated in both wet and dried urine. Drinks were overpriced, decor is the same industrial "we aren't paying for a single thing" vibe that you find in every underwhelming pub that thinks it's trendy and charges 6 quid for a basic pint. If you want me to pay your crazy prices, give us some atmosphere, or at least put the sound on your telly. The Verdict: Not coming back. Between passive aggressive staff that wouldn't stop staring down my table but didn't want to talk to us, the terrible choice in music (again, WAY too loud for a sunday afternoon) and the condition of the loo, there's quite literally nothing to go back for there. Should You Go? Don't waste your money, time or energy on this mediocre, self-aggrandized microcosm of everything wrong with kelham island, and gentrification in general. Every pint drank in this bar is a pint that could have been memorable, enjoyable and refreshing, if only it were served elsewhere for a third of the price.

Lovely bar and restaurant in Kelham island. Great coffee and pleasant staff. Wheelchair access was brilliant, plenty of room round tables, much appreciated. Tables with knee clearance in a powerchair. Will have to return to eat as menu was appetising. Toilet facilities were fantastic! Clear space for transfers. A baby change was thin, and unobtrusive plus bonus potty for slightly older children! Mentioned the small addition of a mirror about above a handy shelf, which was well received.Highly recommended.

Nice place to enjoy food + drink with a side of 90s music, you can't go wrong. The staff were friendly, attentive and the food tasted great. Would highly recommend.

Firstly want to say that I really like Bar Kelham and have spent a lot of time there being a local for 5 years. Food is decent enough for the price and staff members are lovely. That being said, one thing that really bothers me (and I’ve seen other reviews mention this) is asking/informing customers to buy more drinks if they plan on staying. And the reason is for the TV license. We bought two drinks, appreciate only cokes but that’s not relevant and shouldn’t matter, and 10/15 mins after finishing the drinks we were asked to buy another drink or, basically, leave.. so we left. This was a Sunday and wasn’t busy. I now, unfortunately, am not interested in going back. Not that I won’t, I would just be enticed to go to other places in Kelham that show football such as Neepsend Social Club or elsewhere for food. It’s a shame. And I know that already their response to this review will be that we spent time without drinks, again which I understand, I just didn’t appreciate the staff member explaining this to us like it was our fault how expensive the TV license is. A lot of bars thrive in Kelham and are more successful than this one without TV licenses. It wasn’t busy and we might have bought another drink at half-time (5 mins til half-time when told). It just didn’t make sense and puts customers off. I hope you take this as an improvement point and not necessarily criticism or me having a dig. Your response to this may determine if you lose a loyal customer or not. Thanks, Damien

Popped in for a breakfast after reading reviews, eggs were over done, hash browns cremated. I would of explained this to the waitress if she would of asked, how was your food. Walked past the table several times with out taking our plates. Shame!
