Cafe Root

Excellent food and drinks and a very nice nice owner providing excellent customer service. I have been a few times and never had a bad meal. The coffee and smoothies are excellent and there is a wide range to choose from. Definitely worth the walk up the hill, even on a hot day.

We went to one of Root Cafe’s ‘Get What You’re Given’ evenings 19 Dec 2025. There was a lovely warming pre-Christmas atmosphere and as we’ve been here before a bit of excitement on our part as we knew the food was going to be amazing. It didn’t disappoint-6 small plates of the most delicious food arrived in a timely manner over a couple of hours. The baked Camembert opener with harissa was sublime-followed by a black pudding scotch egg, squash/citrus salad, seafood pate & gambas, spicy chicken curry with crispy rice & an amazing bread & pudding with custard to finish. There was a decent cocktail/drinks menu and the service was just right. Sorry no pics too busy eating & enjoying the evening. At £50 per head more than reasonable, we will go back.

Was recommended this cafe locally and it was a brilliant choice for a spot of lunch. I had the avocado egg on toast with an organic cola and was very impressed. The presentation, quality and taste were superb. The gentlemen working were friendly and helpful! I would definately visit again and highly recommend.

Absolutely love this place. Me and my boyfriend have been there a few times now, very reasonably priced, excellent coffee they have darkwoods and the service is wonderful. we have brought his family a few times aswell and they all enjoy it. The food selection is just perfect for lunch and my partner keeps coming back for the salmon sandwich.

Went for first time yesterday, great service and really lovely food, cannot recommend highly enough. Real attention to detail. Also get the Cortado - best one I have ever had.
