New Mill Post Office

I've been here quite a few times recently and each and every time I was made to feel unwelcome and found the staff to be highly rude! There was once a chap who worked here some time ago who was helpful, but ever since he left this place has really gone downhill and I simply don't come here anymore. The lady that works here makes you feel like you're burdening her by simply wanting to send a parcel. You're interrogated coldly about what you're sending, rather than just simply asking like every other Post Office. I was once asked if I was 'sure' the parcel was roughly worth £25-30, like I was making it up. The last time I came here I stood for ages waiting for someone to serve me, but instead the lady behind the counter just ignored me for ages until she snapped they aren't accepting parcels... at 4pm. I went up the road to Cumberworth and they were very happy to get my parcel processed in no time. There's never any politeness shown, not a 'thank you' or a 'sorry'. My father also had a similar experience here, and was also rudely snapped at with the same 'we aren't open for parcels' just after midday on a Friday!

I find the lady behind the post office counter cold, not to say rude. I wanted to pay cash into my account. I said please and she said nothing, just held out her hand. She counted the money and said how much was there. I confirmed it. She processed the transaction and said not a word. She gave me my receipt. No words, no smile. It had been difficult to get into the shop as another lady had a large amount of stock on the floor in the doorway. Dreadful.

Visited last week and delighted to discover that there is a new post master and counter manager, and now open regular hours Monday to Friday 9-5. Natalie processed the return of my parcels and had such a friendly, helpful and professional manner, so good to have this facility serving the community so well.

This business is incredibly infuriating because the opening hours on their Google Business page don't align with the shop's actual opening hours. I constantly waste my time driving there, only to discover that the post office is consistently closed for various reasons. Then I'm informed that it will only be open at some arbitrary time between 9 am and 1 pm on the following day. This is certainly not a suitable way to operate a post office.

Have attempted to take parcels here twice in the last couple of months to find the post office section within the shop closed. Why does it say it’s open online? This needs updating. Last time I bother with New Mill Post office. The lady running the newsagents is not too friendly either when you ask if the post office bit is open. Maybe she’s fed up of telling people.
