This change comes as the company aims to find new development opportunities throughout Yorkshire and beyond. At just 23 years old, Avais, who hails from Huddersfield, is set to play a crucial role in helping the housebuilder grow its land portfolio as part of a five-year business plan.

Avais Sharif's Background

Avais Sharif graduated in 2024 from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, where he earned an RTPI and RICS-accredited degree in Urban Planning and Property Development. His education has prepared him well for this role, as he actively sought a position within the housebuilding industry. Avais expressed enthusiasm about joining Jones Homes, stating, “This is my first graduate role, and it utilises and builds upon the skills and knowledge I gained during my degree. I was aware that Jones Homes is renowned throughout the construction industry for building exceptional properties, and I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to join the company.”

Responsibilities and Goals

In his new position, Avais will focus on several key responsibilities:

• Identifying quality land parcels with good access to nearby towns and local facilities.

• Building a network of contacts with landowners, agents, and planners from both private companies and local authorities.

• Evaluating new land opportunities through feasibility reviews and appraisals.

Expansion Plans

Jones Homes Yorkshire, a family-owned company established in 1959, is known for its commitment to quality and design. The company builds over 500 homes in the UK each year and is part of The Emerson Group, which manages a commercial property portfolio worth more than £1 billion. With Avais on board, the company is looking to expand its portfolio in specific areas.
