A Veganuary Treat You Can’t Miss

Welcome to Yorkshire

Published on January 6th, 2025

Veganuary just got a serious glow-up thanks to Fat Hippo, the burger joint that specialises in indulgent, messy goodness. They’ve teamed up with Miami Foods, a leader in plant-based innovation, to create something special – the Miami Spice Burger.

Fat Hippo has outlets in York, Sheffield and Leeds to name a few.

This new, limited-edition vegan creation is proof that plant-based doesn’t mean bland. Whether you’re a die-hard vegan, just curious, or a meat-lover dipping your toes in the Veganuary trend, this one’s got you covered.

What makes Miami Spice so special?

Let’s break it down: this isn’t just a burger – it’s a flavour-packed masterpiece. At the centre of it all is Miami Foods’ brand-new, Southern-fried plant-based chicken fillet. Think juicy, tender, and crispy all at once. It’s smothered in togarashi maple sauce (sweet and spicy heaven), drizzled with a bold gochujang BBQ glaze, and topped with a refreshing Asian slaw. Oh, and it doesn’t stop there. It’s all finished with creamy katsu mayo, sandwiched in a toasted milk loaf bun. Sounds dreamy, right?

And because Fat Hippo doesn’t mess around, you get a free side too. Choose from their thick-cut chips, skinny fries, or slaw. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for their Katsu Fries – loaded with gochujang BBQ sauce, slaw, and katsu mayo. These fries are available solo too, in case you want seconds. (Trust us, you will.)

Why Fat Hippo loves Veganuary

Since 2018, Fat Hippo has been nailing the vegan game with their plant-based menu. From vegan-friendly burgers and sides to shakes and desserts, they’ve created options that are indulgent and eco-conscious. They’ve even made their signature beers vegan! And now, with more people joining Veganuary every year, Fat Hippo’s latest launch feels perfectly timed.

Nick Fountain, Fat Hippo’s Head of Marketing, summed it up best:

“At Fat Hippo, we’re always looking to spice things up and deliver foodie indulgence so the ‘good kind of gluttony’ can be enjoyed by everyone… Even the meat-lovers will be drooling.”
