Robee Gelido Appointed Ghyll Royd Home Manager

Yorkshire Team

Published on March 19th, 2026

There’s some properly brilliant news from Ghyll Royd Care Home, where a well-loved member of the team has just stepped into the top job. A recent announcement shared the story of Robee Gelido and his fantastic journey to becoming the new Home Manager. This isn't just any promotion; it's a story about hard work, dedication, and what makes a care home feel like a real family. The appointment of a new home manager is always a significant event, and this one marks an exciting new phase for everyone involved with the Guiseley home.

A familiar face in a brand new role

Imagine starting a new job in a new country, and in less than four years, you’re running the place. That's exactly what’s happened for Robee Gelido. His journey at Ghyll Royd Care Home is a real testament to the opportunities provided by its parent company, Spellman Care. He joined the team back in June 2022, arriving from the Philippines as part of a special international recruitment programme. This scheme was set up to find brilliant, dedicated people and give them a chance to build a career and a new life here in the UK.

And Robee grabbed that chance with both hands. He started as a Senior Care Assistant, but his commitment and skill were obvious from day one. It wasn't long before he progressed to become a Registered Nurse, and then the Unit Manager of Beech, which is the home's specialist community for residents living with dementia. Now, with this latest appointment, he's taken the step up to Home Manager, leading the entire team at Ghyll Royd Care Home. It's the kind of story that shows what can happen when talent is nurtured. As the Director of Spellman Care, Steven Spellman, put it: "Robee’s journey from Senior Carer to Home Manager is a testament to how this programme allows staff to develop their professional training and build a lasting career with us, all while maintaining the highest standard of care for our residents."

Big plans for the local community

Robee isn't just planning on keeping things ticking over; he has a big vision for making Ghyll Royd Care Home an even bigger part of the local community. He wants to strengthen the home's connections with the surrounding areas of Guiseley and Yeadon. His plan is to create more opportunities for residents to feel connected to their neighbourhood, inviting local groups in for talks, activities, and social events. It’s all about making sure life in the home is active and engaging.

He's already getting started. On the 17th March 2026, he was out celebrating the 10th Birthday of the Memory Lane Day Centre, and there are already plans for them to work together on projects. One of the most brilliant ideas is a plan to host a special Dementia Training Session at Ghyll Royd. This session will be for local businesses, helping them to become ‘Dementia Friendly’. It's a fantastic way to build a stronger support network across the whole area, making the community a more understanding and welcoming place for everyone. The appointment of a home manager so focused on community is a huge positive.

A warm welcome from everyone

The news of Robee's appointment has, unsurprisingly, been met with a huge amount of support. After a video was posted on social media, residents and their families were quick to share their congratulations, with comments describing him as a "Star" and saying his promotion was "well-deserved." It’s clear he’s already made a big impression.

The support has come from across the Spellman Care family, too. Stephanie Bowers, the Home Manager at the nearby Craven Nursing Home, said: "Well done Robee! So proud—we're here at Craven Nursing Home if you need us, you have our full support!"

Robee himself is keen to be a steady presence for everyone at the home. "I am so honoured to lead the incredible team here at Ghyll Royd," says Robee Gelido, Home Manager. "My goal is to be a reliable, steady hand for our residents and their families. At Ghyll Royd, our residents have always come first, and I am committed to upholding that standard every single day. I believe in maintaining a service that is modern and proactive, but most importantly, transparent. I am incredibly keen to build even stronger connections within our local community so that everyone—whether they are a current resident or a neighbour—feels supported and at home here."

Getting involved and saying hello

Robee is eager to meet everyone and is starting as he means to go on with an 'Open Door Policy'. He's hosting his first ‘Resident and Relative’ meeting this Thursday, 19th March, which will be a great chance for people to chat with him directly. But he also wants families to know they can pop in with ideas, questions, or just for a cuppa at any time. For any local companies or individuals in the Guiseley area who might want to collaborate or get involved with their local care home, Robee is encouraging them to get in touch.
