Exciting Performances at Sheffield City Hall in June 2024

Welcome to Yorkshire

Published on June 17th, 2024

June 2024 is set to be an extraordinary month at Sheffield City Hall, with a diverse lineup of performances featuring beloved comedians and world-class musicians. The Memorial Hall and Oval Hall will host a series of captivating shows, starting with the much-anticipated performances by Troy Hawke, Simon Brodkin, and the Flanders Symphony Orchestra alongside the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus.

Troy Hawke: The Greeters Guild

On 20 June 2024, the charming and ever-dapper Troy Hawke will grace the Memorial Hall at Sheffield City Hall with his new show, "The Greeters Guild." Troy Hawke, known for his impeccable 1930s style and penchant for compliments, began his journey with an impromptu customer service stint outside TK MAXX in Macclesfield. His endearing and often bewildering persona has taken him worldwide, where he has confused Premiership footballers, been threatened by heavyweight boxers, and even enhanced the vocabulary of Formula 1 legends.

This show delves into his unlikely beginnings and explores why a well-dressed man simply being nice to people has caused such a stir. Fans can expect a performance filled with "genius character comedy," as described by The Wee Review.

Tickets are available now at Sheffield City Hall.

Simon Brodkin: Screwed Up

The following evening, 21 June 2024, Simon Brodkin, the world-famous prankster and creator of Lee Nelson, will bring his critically acclaimed stand-up show "Screwed Up" to the Oval Hall. After selling out 110 dates across the UK and Europe, Brodkin's show promises an evening of outrageous comedy where no topic is off-limits.

In "Screwed Up," Brodkin takes aim at celebrity culture, social media, the police, Putin, Prince Andrew, and even God. The show also touches on his personal experiences, including his mental health, family, five arrests, and an unexpected encounter at an underground sex party. Critics have praised the show, with The Times calling it the funniest show they've seen and The Mail on Sunday describing it as a "full-on rat-a-tat gag fest."

Tickets can be purchased at Sheffield City Hall or this page. Please note that the show has an age guidance of 14+.

Flanders Symphony Orchestra with Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus

On 22 June 2024, the Sheffield International Concert Season 2023/24 will conclude with a stunning performance by the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kristiina Poska, and featuring the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus. The concert will take place in the Oval Hall and promises an evening of exceptional classical music.

The program includes Mozart's "Don Giovanni Overture," Beethoven's "Symphony No.8," and Mozart's "Requiem." The latter, which includes the deeply moving "Lacrimosa," is often considered one of Mozart's greatest masterpieces. The concert will open with the overture to "Don Giovanni," famously composed in just three hours, followed by Beethoven's Eighth Symphony, known for its dramatic shifts and hymn-like qualities.

This concert marks the grand finale of the season and is not to be missed. Tickets are available at Sheffield City Hall.
