Lubna Chowdhary - PLURIVERSE at Graves Gallery

Lubna Chowdhary’s latest exhibition, PLURIVERSE, explores the intricate connections between objects across various cultural landscapes. This display features new drawings and sculptures developed during her recent residencies in India and Italy, alongside select prints by Eduardo Paolozzi and historic Indian miniature paintings from Sheffield’s collection. The exhibition showcases Chowdhary’s expertise in blending sculpture, architecture, and craft into a cohesive narrative.
Tess Jaray: Paintings and Drawings Across 60 Years at Millennium Gallery

Celebrating over six decades of creativity, this exhibition features the abstract works of Tess Jaray, one of Britain’s most influential painters. Jaray’s art is deeply inspired by Italian Renaissance and Islamic architecture, and this collection reflects her ongoing exploration of form, space, and colour. The exhibition invites viewers to engage with Jaray’s unique perspective and artistic journey.
Show Your Metal at Millennium Gallery

Coinciding with the 400th anniversary of the Cutlers’ Company of Hallamshire, Show Your Metal is a tribute to Sheffield’s illustrious metalworking heritage. This exhibition displays over 100 objects from the Designated Metalwork Collection, including Old Sheffield Plate, electroplated metals, and stainless steel. The exhibit also highlights contemporary metal artistry, blending industrial and precious metals to showcase the material's versatility and cultural significance.
City of Rivers at Weston Park Museum

Sheffield’s rivers have played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s industrial and natural landscapes. City of Rivers brings together stories, objects, artworks, and photography to explore the city’s enduring relationship with its waterways. This exhibition reflects on how these rivers continue to influence the character of Sheffield and its local wildlife.

Metalwork Gallery Tour: A Culinary Carry-On at Millennium Gallery

Join a guided tour through the Sykes Gallery Metalwork Collection to learn about culinary objects on display and their historical uses. Discover the intriguing connections between Sheffield’s metalwork and culinary traditions, including how Queen Victoria enjoyed her hot chocolate and the story behind the popular turtle tureen.
Baby Friendly Art Club at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet
Tuesdays from 3 September, 11am – 12.30pm
Designed for parents or carers with babies under 12 months, this art class offers a relaxed environment to develop artistic skills. Each session is inspired by different still life objects, providing an opportunity to draw and create in a baby-friendly setting.

Experience a unique evening of movement and contemporary dance performances inspired by Yuen Fong Ling’s We Are the Monument exhibition. This immersive event offers a guided journey through the gallery, where performances unfold, bringing the artwork to life.
Wednesday Art Club at Millennium Gallery
Wednesdays from 4 September for 7 weeks, 5 – 7pm
This evening art club for young people aged 11-14 is a perfect way to dive into different art styles and techniques. Participants will explore the gallery’s collection, learn about various artworks, and create their own pieces inspired by what they discover.
Walking Tour: Ghost Signs at Kelham Island Museum
Thursday 5 September, 2-3.30pm
Discover the history of Sheffield’s streets through a walking tour focused on ‘Ghost Signs’—old, faded advertisements that provide a glimpse into the past. The tour starts at Kelham Island Museum and explores the surrounding areas of Kelham Island and Neepsend.

Led by Deaf BSL user Martin Glover, this tour offers an opportunity to explore the Kelham Island Museum while learning new British Sign Language vocabulary. The tour highlights the latest displays and key objects in the collection, making it an educational experience for all participants.
Write from the Art at Graves Gallery
Saturday 7 September, 1.30-3.30pm
A special Sheffield Showcase edition of the popular art-inspired creative writing workshop. Participants will use artworks from the gallery as prompts to generate new writing, whether they’re seasoned scribes or just picking up a pen for the first time.

LGBTQ+ Over 50s Group at Weston Park Museum
