Dudleys Consulting Engineers has extended its partnership with Torsion Projects to four new care homes across the UK. The projects are in Durham, Chesterfield, Bradford and Worksop and follow on from Dudleys successful delivery of civil and structural engineering services for Torsion Care.

These new projects are part of the bigger picture to provide modern care facilities where they are needed most.

Modern care facilities in demand

Dudleys and Torsion Care have worked together before. In fact it’s an extension of a successful relationship that has already delivered care home and retirement living schemes in Shipley, Bingley, Brighouse and York. Those projects were successful and enabled Torsion Care to continue to meet the UK’s growing need for well designed, efficient care homes.

Now Dudleys will be applying its engineering skills to new builds in four more locations.

So what’s involved? Let’s get into the detail of each project.

New care home in Durham

The first project is a new care home in Durham. Located at Mount Oswald the new development will have 74 en-suite bedrooms and residents will have modern care facilities. This is another big step forward for the partnership between Torsion Care and the Banks Group who helped secure the site for this new development. The design will provide exceptional living spaces for residents and blend in with the local community.

Dudleys has already been involved in the planning phase and is now the engineering consultant to deliver the project.

Chesterfield historic site

Next is Chesterfield where Torsion Care are redeveloping the Walton Works site. The project involves redeveloping Grade II listed mill buildings and bringing new life to an area steeped in history. The new care home will have 72 bedrooms and is part of a larger housing redevelopment. Dudleys will be key in balancing modern infrastructure with the historic nature of the site.

Getting planning permission for a project like this is a big achievement and Dudleys’ team is ready to tackle the challenges of working on a site with so much heritage.

Bradford

In Bradford Torsion Care are redeveloping a brownfield site in Eccleshill into a care home with 72 bedrooms. But there’s a twist—the site needs to be raised by three metres to create a level surface for development. That’s where Dudleys comes in. We’ll be providing the engineering solutions to achieve this and keep the project on track and safe.

Brownfield sites like this come with their own challenges—previous industrial use and uneven ground—but Dudleys has experience of this kind of project.

Worksop

Last but not least the fourth project is in Worksop where Torsion Care are continuing the expansion of the Gatefold Toll Bar development. The new care home will have 70 beds and will be designed with Watson Batty Architects. Construction will start soon and Dudleys will be providing full civil and structural engineering support to bring this to life.

This is part of a wider strategy for the area as Worksop continues to grow and develop. The new care home will serve a community that needs more care facilities so older residents have a comfortable and modern place to live.

Torsion Care’s big picture

Torsion Care, part of the Torsion Group, has quickly become a major player in the care home development sector. The group wants to provide not only care homes but also residential spaces and assisted living facilities across the UK. They have a pipeline of over 5,000 units which reflects the demand for these types of developments. By handling everything from land acquisition to planning permission and construction Torsion Care can deliver a smooth process for their investors and operators.
