Pocklington Festival

When and where is it all happening?

Mark those calendars. The festival fun kicks off on Saturday, 4th October, running from 9am until 6pm. And if you can't make it on Saturday, don't worry, the celebration continues on Sunday, 5th October, from 10am to 5pm. That's two full days to get stuck in. The heart of the action will be right in Pocklington's town centre. The festival is set to take over the main Market Place and will even spill out into the adjoining Market Street. So, expect the entire centre of this lovely market town to be buzzing with activity.

This fantastic event is being put together by the experts at Market Square Group Ltd, who are working closely with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to make sure it's a weekend to remember. Their combined effort is all about showcasing what makes this corner of East Yorkshire so special. The plan is to transform the familiar streets into a vibrant hub of flavour and fun for the whole weekend.

A proper feast for the senses

Right, let's get to the main event: the food. This isn't just any old collection of stalls. It's a full-on foodie paradise. Imagine strolling through Market Place with the delicious smells of sizzling street food filling the air. We're talking about proper, mouth-watering street food from all sorts of different cuisines. Think juicy gourmet burgers, spicy curries, and maybe even some wood-fired pizzas. It's the kind of food that's perfect for wandering around with. And it's not just about grab-and-go options. The festival is creating spaces for some lovely alfresco dining. This means you can grab a plate of something amazing, find a spot to sit, and just watch the world go by.

It's a great way to enjoy the festival atmosphere. Plus, there will be a selection of exceptional bars on hand, serving everything from local craft ales to fancy gins and refreshing ciders. It's the perfect drink festival experience. For those who love to cook at home, there will be stalls packed with specialty groceries. This is a chance to pick up things you just can't find in the supermarket - think artisan cheeses, homemade chutneys, and locally cured meats. It's a fantastic opportunity to stock up the pantry. And alongside the food, you'll find plenty of craft stalls. These stalls will be filled with unique, handmade goods from local artists and makers. It's a great place to find a unique gift or a little treat for yourself, all while supporting small local businesses.

  • Mouth-watering street food from around the globe.
  • Charming alfresco dining spots to relax and eat.
  • Excellent bars serving local and craft beverages.
  • Unique specialty groceries to take a taste of the festival home.
  • Beautiful craft stalls featuring local artisans.

More than just food and drink

While the food and drink festival is obviously about amazing grub, there's so much more going on. Organisers have lined up a brilliant schedule of live entertainment to keep everyone happy throughout the weekend. This is a real celebration, after all. There will be live music creating a brilliant soundtrack for the event. Expect local bands and solo artists playing tunes that will have people tapping their feet as they browse the stalls. But it's not just music.

For a bit of a laugh, there will also be some brilliant comedy acts. It's the kind of family-friendly fun that adds a different flavour to the day. And for the little ones, there will be plenty of children's activities to keep them entertained, making it a genuinely great day out for the entire family. This mix of entertainment ensures there's a constant buzz and something new to see or hear around every corner.

A celebration of community spirit

At its core, the Pocklington Food and Drink Festival is more than just a market. It's a real celebration of community spirit. It's about bringing people from all over East Yorkshire together in this lovely market town. It gives local food producers, brewers, and craft makers a brilliant platform to show off what they do best. Events like this are so important for a market town.

They create a wonderful, positive atmosphere and remind everyone of the brilliant local talent we have right here. It's a chance for neighbours to catch up over a pint, for families to make memories, and for visitors to discover what makes Pocklington so special. This food and drink festival in October is set to be a fantastic example of that community spirit in action, all organised by Market Square Group Ltd and the council. It's a true celebration of all things local.
