|Get ready, because something seriously cool is coming back to the streets of Leeds this autumn. Remember that awesome annual event where the whole city lights up after dark? Yep, Light Night is returning, and it's bringing back some fan favourites. One of the biggest acts, the Spark! drummers, will be taking over Trinity Leeds on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2025, and it's a show that people of all ages will want to see.
Think glowing costumes, massive drum beats that you can feel in your chest, and a performance that's part music concert, part theatre show. It's the kind of thing you'll be talking about for weeks.

So, what's all the noise about
If you've never seen Spark! before, you're in for a treat. This isn't just a group of people playing drums. It's a whole experience. They combine high-energy live music with incredible costumes that glow with dazzling light. These performers create a sort of otherworldly vibe, telling stories through their perfectly timed drumming and choreographed moves. They don't just stand on a stage; they move through the space, interacting with the crowd and making everyone feel like they're part of the show. It's this immersive crowd interaction that makes their performance so memorable.
The whole spectacle will unfold right under the famous iconic glass dome of Trinity Leeds, turning the shopping centre into a magical, glowing stage. The combination of thunderous beats and kaleidoscopic LED effects creates an atmosphere that's completely electric. Steven Foster, the Centre Director at Trinity Leeds, knows how special this performance is. He said:
"Spark! have always been one of the most popular highlights of Light Night, and we are thrilled to welcome them back. Their performances are bold, energetic, and utterly mesmerising - the perfect match for the unique atmosphere of Trinity Leeds during Light Night. We can't wait to see them light up the centre once again and share this spectacular showcase with the people of Leeds."
Catch the show before it's gone
The good news is there are plenty of chances to see them. The Spark! drummers will be performing multiple times each evening, so you can plan your night around them. The shows are short and snappy, packing a lot of energy into 20 minutes.
Here's the schedule for both Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd October 2025:
- 6:00pm
- 7:00pm
- 8:00pm
- 9:00pm
You could grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants, get a drink at the bars, or pop into the coffee shops dotted around Trinity Leeds before or after a performance. It's a great way to make a full evening of it.
More than just a light show
Light Night Leeds 2025 isn't just about this one performance, as amazing as it is. The whole event, running from 6pm to 10pm across the city, has a theme this year: Landmarks. It's all about celebrating the amazing buildings and spaces that make Leeds what it is. This includes everything from the city's grand historic civic buildings to its striking modern architecture. The festival turns parks, squares, and streets into incredible public spaces filled with art and light.
But it's not just about the big, famous landmarks. The event also encourages everyone to think about their own personal landmarks - those little spots in the city that mean something special to you. Maybe it's a park bench where you had a good chat with a friend, or a street corner with a happy memory. This fantastic city-wide festival is put together with the support of the Leeds City Council and receives funding from the Arts Council England, showing how important these cultural events are for the community.
The people behind the place
Ever wonder who makes a place like Trinity Leeds happen? It's owned and operated by a company called Landsec. They're a big name in the real estate world and are all about creating amazing urban places. Their work isn't just about building shops; it's about shaping spaces where people can connect, have fun, and make memories. They are behind some of the UK's best premium workplaces and retail centres.
Trinity Leeds itself is a great example. It's more than just a place to shop. With its impressive artworks like the Equus Altus horse sculpture, a top-tier Everyman Cinema for movie nights, and a huge variety of places to eat and drink, it has become a central part of city life. Landsec focuses on adapting to our changing world, creating places that bring joy and opportunity to everyone connected to them. Hosting events like Light Night is a huge part of that, bringing art and culture right into the places people already love to be. So when you're watching the drummers this October, you'll be standing in a space designed to bring people in Leeds together for exactly these kinds of brilliant experiences.
